Kielikuvista
Minulla on äidinkielenä suomi ja isänkielenä saksa ja iloitsin aina sanonnoista, joita ei voi kääntää. Laulaminen on nautinnollista tekstin lausuntaa ja sen ylittämistä, kielen leikkiä ja sen tulkintaa.
As a child of bilingual background (German and Finnish), I’ve always enjoyed idiomatic expressions. “My eyes stayed outside” when I entered from light into dark. Singing is a constant declamation and interpretation of words, sounds and the variation of images any different language has to offer.

Rilken Orfeus, esikuva ja innoitaja

Tarujen Orfeus on laulaja, joka onnistuu yli odotusten. Kuolemakin liikuttuu ja väistyy. Rautavaaran “viisi sonettia Orfeukselle” kertovat laulamisen syvim-mis¬tä syistä, musiikin hetkellisyydestä ja jumalaisuudesta, kun Orfeuksella „ei ole lyyran kalterikaan esteenä käsilleen.“

About Rilke and his Orfeus Sonetts

Orfeus is a singer who reaches his public. Death makes way for him. The Finnish composer Rautavaara wrote a song cycle based on Rilke’s Five Sonetts to Orfeus, which I admire in their abundance of pictures describing what singing is about. It is the transience of song where Orfeus finds his way by means of a lyre.
